The pre-commit hook runs the whole suite, and tests/e2e/ talks to a real
LLM gateway, so whether a commit is allowed depended on how fast that
gateway happened to be. During the issue 14 work it blocked two commits
on two different cases; both passed when rerun alone, and the suite went
from 165s to 336s that hour.
The wasted minutes are not the real cost. Retrying on red teaches you to
read "test failed" as "gateway was slow", and a genuinely flaky bug then
gets retried away too. An alarm that cries wolf stops being an alarm.
test_thinking_live.py already carried the slow marker; the other three
files now match it, and the release checklist gains an explicit
`pytest -m slow` step so they still run where a human is watching --
without that step this change would just delete the coverage.
Also raises test_flat_legacy_keys_assemble's LLM_TIMEOUT from 120 to
300, matching .env. At 120 the case allowed half of what production
allows, on a gateway that needs the full 300 -- it measured 116s in a
solo run. The assertion is that the flat key name parses into
SourceConfig.timeout_s; the value itself was never under test.
Measured 201 on POST /api/v1/packages/iomgaa/pypi/polygateway/-/link/
PolyGateway during the 1.2.0 release. The note saying it 404s and must
be done through the web UI would have sent the next release down a
manual path that is no longer needed.
1.1.2 went out with an empty description on the registry page: without a
readme field there is no long_description, and twine only warns about
that -- it does not block the upload. Add readme and project.urls, and
record the wider lesson in the release procedure: a release is done when
the pages a downstream user actually opens look right, not when the local
steps go green. Also adds the missing step for creating a Release, which
is why the Releases page sat empty through eight tags.
Bumping the version is not releasing. 1.0.6 and 1.1.0 both got a version
bump and a changelog entry but were never uploaded, so the registry sat at
1.0.5 and downstream could not install any of those fixes.
The ordering matters in one non-obvious way: README has to be correct
before the build, because sdist freezes whatever is there at that moment.
That is exactly how 1.1.1 shipped with a stale README. The install pin is
called out by name since it is the easiest line to forget and the most
damaging to leave wrong.
Also records where the Gitea token actually lives — tea's config, not
.pypirc — after that misreading led to a wrong "no credentials" claim.
Background dispatch produced two failure modes this session, and both
looked identical from the outside: a run that had finished without anyone
noticing, and a run that had wedged without anyone noticing. A pipe on the
end of the command masked pytest's real exit code as 0, and a waiter
looping on `pgrep -f "<the command>"` matched its own command line and
never terminated. Foreground execution trades parallelism for knowing
what actually happened.
VT migration abandoned (v1.0 scope becomes two projects), Q1 resolved
to Gitea PyPI, Q6 resolved as judge exemption (unwired zero-consumer
eval scaffolding), migration docs annotated with implementation errata,
and the reference/ read-only rule clarified for the worktree workflow.
Define the five-step ladder (native-schema prevention, repair, shape
validation, bounded feedback re-ask, ResultInvalidError) as D14;
rewrite section 7.9 accordingly, give the structured parameter its
three-tier semantics in the chat() signature, and scope the bounded
re-ask outside transport retry and breaker counting.
Record tenacity vs self-built evaluation as D13 in ARCHITECTURE.md
(self-built wins: per-attempt orchestration, cancellation guarantees,
supply-chain discipline). Add research-wiki/ROADMAP.md expanding the
milestone table with ordering rationale and exit criteria.
