iomgaa 9021425875 docs: measure the 1.3.3 notes against 1.3.2, not against this branch
The behaviour section described round trips that only ever existed inside the
branch. Verified every claim against `git show 6ec9ec7:<file>` plus a 300-combo
side-by-side run (4 old provider slots x 25 models x three ENABLE_THINKING
states); exactly two differences exist.

- glm-5.3 / glm-5.3-flash / gemini-3.1-pro are newly registered as unable to
  stop reasoning. They were unregistered in 1.3.2, so ENABLE_THINKING=false
  passed; now it fails at assembly. That is the one change that breaks an
  existing config, so it leads the table.
- The openai slot moves from "shape unknown, refuse at assembly" to the standard
  OpenAI shapes in both directions. Neither openai nor anthropic nor google ever
  injected medium; minimax did and still does, byte for byte.
- kimi-k3 was never registered before, so it changes nothing for anyone. Moved
  to new capabilities as a first registration.
- Both keyword and positional ThinkingCapability construction break, not just
  positional; spell out the migration form.

.env.example: name all eight registry slots, and say that "on" injects nothing
on the three slots whose on_base is empty.

iomgaa e9607b2f0c docs: cut 1.3.3 notes for the tier work
CHANGELOG gets all five breaking changes, not the one the draft had:
ThinkingCapability's constructor, two ports that grew a parameter with
no default, resolve_thinking's new return type, and ProviderProfile's
single wire field. Behaviour changes get their own section, including
the one that is easy to miss — the openai fallback segment no longer
refuses an unknown shape, so a downstream that parks a foreign model
there and asks for thinking used to fail at assembly and now sends
nothing at all. minimax is called out as the exception it is: the gateway
proved M3 does not think without a parameter, so that segment keeps its
medium and its downstreams see no change this release.

The capability table is reported as it stands — 17 of 24 rows measured,
7 still on documentation, with the reason each one went unmeasured, so
nobody reads "measured" into a row that is a guess. The auto limitation
and its deliberate MiniMax-M3 inconsistency are written down rather than
left for someone to trip over; issue #21 holds the real fix.

ARCHITECTURE had five claims that measurement showed had gone false:
the cache key formula, the field count, the reconcile predicate and its
throttle key, and two field lists. README's FIELD set was missing the
two new keys it calls exhaustive.

docs-convention still opened by announcing a 17-page site that has not
existed since August. It now says what is actually there — one placeholder
page pointing at .env.example, CHANGELOG and the source docstrings — and
says which four files carry the sync gate while the site is down.

iomgaa 58c4af28ea fix: refuse the sandbox rather than quietly running it as the superuser
Both reviews landed on the same line independently. _as_role swaps the
credentials in the DSN with a regex, and when the pattern does not match
it returned the string unchanged. Two shapes miss it: no inline
credentials, and a unix socket URL. Either one is a legal DSN.

What that costs is not a broken test. The sandbox builds, every
assertion still passes, and bare_dsn is now the admin connection, so the
worst-case case runs the real script with --apply as a superuser against
the shared table. The verifier ran that command as a dry run to see what
it would have done: target public.llm_calls, 11 rows to delete. The case
would still have gone red on the exit code, after the rows were gone.

It raises now. There is also a second check that connects and compares
current_user, because a successful string substitution is not the same
as connecting as that role -- PGUSER and friends still override. The
whole design rests on that connection having no grant on the shared
table; a string comparison is too thin a thing to rest it on.

That check has to stay inside the try. Past it the cleanup statements
have already been merged into the fixture-level stack, and unwinding
again runs DROP OWNED BY twice, which has no IF EXISTS.

The catalog probe took any SQL and ran it on the admin connection. The
design claims withholding the DSN makes the boundary structural; that
was only true of the connection string, not of the capability. It takes
SELECT now.

--table's schema half is restricted to plain identifiers. Not a
security fix, since the name goes through a parameter and _quote: the
help text says complex identifiers are unsupported and the code was
accepting them anyway.

iomgaa bc0fcc4719 docs: cut 1.3.2, and say plainly that the wheel did not change
tools/ and tests/ are not in the package, so this release ships library
code identical to 1.3.1 byte for byte. Anyone who only uses the library
can skip it. Saying so up front is better than letting someone diff the
wheel and wonder what they missed.

What is in it: the retention script can now be told which table it may
delete from, and the Postgres tests no longer touch the table three
migration projects also write to.

The --table entry documents the failure it prevents rather than just
the flag. search_path starts with "$user", so the same command run as a
different role can resolve to a different table, and the script's own
printout of what it resolved lands in the same run as the DELETE.

iomgaa 6e205e9382 docs: retire the criterion this version disproved, everywhere it survived
The reasoning_tokens docstring was still teaching downstream to treat
None or 0 as no reasoning. The changelog and the schema page had both
been corrected; the docstring had not, and it is the copy that ships in
the wheel and shows up on hover. Someone writing a report from it would
have counted every real MiniMax reasoning call as not reasoning, which
is issue #16 all over again with the tests green.

The original wording stays, since reading pre-1.3.1 rows still needs
it. What follows it now says when it expired and what to read instead.

Two more places had drifted the same way: the changelog and the
architecture doc described the throttle and the cache fallback as they
were before this review, which is to say as the opposite of what the
code now does.

The claim that the two throttle sets would suppress each other does not
survive checking, as the mutation testing showed: their key spaces do
not overlap. Keeping them apart is still right, but for the honest
reason, which is that the two warnings have unrelated lifetimes.

iomgaa 578a144231 docs: sync the field counts and module map to 1.3.1
The telemetry field count is taken from inspect.signature, not from
memory, because that is the one the release checklist keeps catching.
llm-calls.md said 22 and was two rounds stale; fixing the title alone
would have left the table contradicting it, so tenant_id and meta are
documented too.

The production template needed no new column — it derives them with
LIKE. What it gained is an assertion that it must keep deriving them
and must not inline a column name, which is the drift that could
actually happen.

The changelog leads with the three breaking items. A patch number
carries no warning by design, so the entry has to.

iomgaa 15f0c16782 docs: correct three claims the code never made good on
1. 两个新遥测配置字段被 CHANGELOG 与 ARCHITECTURE 说成「带缺省」,实际是无
   默认值的必填字段(缺省只在 env 装配路 _load_*),且就地加默认值在 dataclass
   上根本不可能(后面跟着四个无默认值字段)。直接构造 GatewaySettings 的下游
   升级即 TypeError,这是真正的破坏性变更,补进 CHANGELOG 的「请先读这一条」。
2. ARCHITECTURE Q2 仍写最低 Python 3.11,按 2026-08-24 人类确认改 3.12,并
   记明原依据「覆盖三项目 3.11×2」已过时,三个迁移目标均已 ≥3.12。
3. 三分表里的 TimeoutError 只在准备期路径可达: 写入期的超时先被
   record_llm_call 的 except 顺序按行级丢弃,故「最坏成本每 60s 一次、上界一
   个预算」的承诺只在准备期成立。本次只改文档不改行为,连续超预算丢行是否
   升档留作后续议题。

iomgaa 6d6b3cf59c docs: correct the stale throughput numbers and wiki state
独立验证发现的 3 处文档欠账:

③ 两处代码内注释还挂着已作废的吞吐估算,`.env.example`/README/
   CHANGELOG/ARCHITECTURE 四处早已改成实测口径:
   - `config.py` 的 `# 4 条 ≈ 32 行/秒(实测…)` —— "32 行/秒"正是设计
     §10 修订 #1 判定"偏乐观一倍"并作废的估算值,却挂着"实测"二字;
   - `postgres.py` 的 `pool_max` docstring 写着 `稳态吞吐 ≈ pool_max /
     RTT`,正是设计要求下游**不要**用的那个公式。
   两处统一为实测值: RTT ≈ 123ms 上 `pool_max=4` 约 15.6 行/秒
   (50 行并发批 3.2s)。设计 §8 与计划 T7 里残留的同一公式一并标注作废。

④ 文档写 `acquire(timeout=剩余预算)`,实现传的是完整预算(行为无害,
   外层 `asyncio.timeout` 才是真正上界)。**改文档不改代码**: 设计
   §3.1、计划 T3、ARCH §7.8 三处对齐,并写明为什么内层不再算剩余量。

⑤ wiki 登记页与正文状态漂移: design 登记页仍写"待人类审"(正文已是
   "已实施")、plan 登记页写"正文 326 行"(实际 380)、log.md 末条停在
   T0 之前。三处校正,T1-T8 补登记,rebuild_index。

另补一条独立验证在真实 PG 上发现的语义细节: 本地池饱和造成的丢行走
**行级丢弃**,`degraded` 保持 False,只有 `dropped_rows` 增长——只按
`degraded` 配告警的下游会完全看不见这类丢行,而它恰是 `pool_max` 配小
了的唯一信号。README / .env.example / ARCHITECTURE / CHANGELOG 各补一句。

iomgaa 4e1f09d231 docs: record the telemetry pool semantics and ownership rule
ARCHITECTURE 7.8 gains the pool resource semantics, the two-sentence
failure verdict and the two config keys; the ownership rule lands in a
new 4.5 because it is a cross-subsystem discipline, not a telemetry
convention. CHANGELOG leads with the three items downstream must read
first: the 3.12 floor, the connection count going from 10 per client to
on demand, and aclose no longer closing injected components.

iomgaa 41bca375d2 chore: cut 1.2.4 and date its changelog entry
README first, since packaging freezes whatever it says at build time:
version pin bumped, and the capability table now mentions that an open
circuit can wait as well as fail fast. Verified the numeric claims by
measurement rather than memory -- record_llm_call still takes 24 fields,
schema.COLUMNS still has 24, meta still caps at 16 keys.

iomgaa c5b2b3fade docs: correct how a wait-mode call actually dies on a dead source
Branch review caught the docs claiming something the code does not do.
CHANGELOG, README and the design's behaviour matrix all said a
force-opened source under circuit_open=wait waits out the full stall
window. It does not: the probe let through after each cooldown is a
real attempt, so it burns a max_attempts slot like any other, and a
401 source usually runs out of retry budget first -- reason is
retry_exhausted, not stalled. Which budget wins depends on
max_attempts against the cooldowns and the stall window.

The behaviour is right; only the prose was wrong. Charging the probe
to the retry budget is exactly the split issue #8 settled: the
question is who spends max_attempts, and a probe does send a real
request. A test now pins it so the claim cannot drift again.

Also drops the planned "woke up" log line. Each wait round already
logs on entry with its duration, and a still-blocked wake-up logs the
next round immediately, so a second line would only double the volume.

iomgaa d9ceaecf20 docs: record the circuit-open wait policy and the retry_after contract
README gains the key with the reason a single-source scope wants wait,
and the price of choosing it. .env.example carries the same warning
since README points at it as the full key list. ARCHITECTURE 7.4 records
why the missing cell is unrelated to source count -- and why keying on
len(sources) would be the worse debt -- plus the six-exit retry_after_s
contract and the admission convergence; 9 registers the key.

CHANGELOG stays unreleased per the release checklist: the version bump
belongs to the release run, not here. Its "read this first" section
covers the half-open retry_after_s change, which is visible even on the
default fail_fast setting.

iomgaa 296c765337 chore: cut 1.2.3 and date its changelog entry
Dates the unreleased section as 1.2.3 (2026-08-19) and moves both version
strings from 1.2.1 in lockstep. The human picked a patch number knowing
this release carries five breaking changes; that is deliberate.

Two lines added to the upgrade hints: the install pin move, matching what
1.2.1 recorded for its own, and a pointer saying the zero-row RLS
self-check now also lives in the README, since CHANGELOG.md never reaches
anyone who only reads the packaged README.

iomgaa ea9b6fbcd9 docs: record the retention boundary and its knobs
The unreleased entry now covers both issues as one release note: #13 hands
schema control to downstreams, #12 hands over the other half — deleting
data — and ships three knobs that change nothing by default.

Top of the section is the 1.2.1 RLS template defect Task 4 found. That
template bound the write-side policy to app.tenant_id, but PostgresRecorder
writes every tenant through one pool and never calls set_config, so every
INSERT is rejected — and telemetry degrades silently, so the symptom is an
empty table, not an error. The entry says how to check for it (count rows
with a BYPASSRLS role; grep the per-row write warning) and what the new
WITH CHECK (true) template trades away.

ARCHITECTURE gets #12's half of D15: the library must not even hold the
means to delete, because REVOKE UPDATE, DELETE and a retention policy can
only be reconciled by DROP PARTITION (owner) rather than DELETE (app).
7.8 and 9 record the text cap, its default of no truncation, and why the
cut is per text rather than over the serialized JSON.

iomgaa ba4a138692 docs: document the schema mode and the expand-contract promise
README 新增「遥测表 schema 与升级纪律」: 库对下游库只发探测/INSERT/建表
三类语句、PGW_TELEMETRY_SCHEMA_MODE 三态与两端不对称缺省的理由、
telemetry_schema_sql 用法,以及五条 Expand/Contract 承诺。CHANGELOG 未发布段
把三处破坏性变更放在最前。ARCHITECTURE 新增 D15 并在 §7.8/§9 记下 schema
单一事实源与无冲突目标写入。

新增集成用例把 telemetry_schema_sql("postgres") 的输出在空临时 schema 里执行
两遍: 断言物理列 == COLUMNS ∪ {created_at},且第二遍不报错(补列语句的
IF NOT EXISTS 幂等性)。去掉 IF NOT EXISTS 该用例即红。

iomgaa 2af445cfc2 chore: cut 1.2.1 with the docs the sdist will freeze
Dating the changelog and bumping both version strings is the cheap half.
The README is the half that gets frozen into the sdist, so it is fixed
first: the install pin now names 1.2.1 (1.2.0 has no tenant dimension),
and the per-source FIELD table finally lists MISSING_DONE and EXTRA_BODY
- the latter was already referenced elsewhere in the same file. The same
table was missing QUOTA_FULL, the embedding-only keys, the memory cache
backend and three optional PGW_* keys; all are reconciled against
_SOURCE_FIELDS and _load_pgw rather than from memory.

iomgaa 56f380534c docs: ship the RLS template where downstream can actually read it
The CHANGELOG pointed at research-wiki for the RLS template and its
three traps, but setuptools has no MANIFEST.in here: the sdist carries
src/polygateway and the README only. A downstream pip install could not
reach any of it. The template and the traps now live in the README
section on multi-tenancy, and the CHANGELOG points there.

ARCHITECTURE.md is the single source of truth for architecture, and this
change had added nothing to it. Section 5.2 gains an entry in the same
shape as the issue #4 overlay one, and 7.8's field list gains tenant_id
and meta -- plus reasoning_tokens, which issue #6 had already left out,
so the port's field-count chain reads 18 to 20 to 21 to 22 to 24 with no
gaps.

iomgaa 25cb0a6e0c docs: document caller dimensions and the RLS boundary
Issue #11 Task 8, repo files only (the Gitea wiki pages are handled
separately at merge time). CHANGELOG gains an unreleased section covering
the two new keyword-only parameters on all four public methods, the two
new telemetry columns (JSONB on PG, TEXT on SQLite), why backfilled rows
read as an empty string rather than NULL, the validation limits, and the
boundary that the library ships columns only - no index, no RLS.

Telemetry field count re-measured via inspect.signature: 22 -> 24, README
updated accordingly. The cache-key row also dropped the sampling
component and called the namespace a tenant, which now reads as the new
tenant_id; both corrected.

iomgaa 658086e2c0 docs: release 1.2.0 and unpin downstream from the 1.1 series
Issue #10 Task 6. The install pin moves from ==1.1.* to >=1.2,<2 - left
alone, everyone following the README would have stayed silently on
1.1.2 without this fix and without a warning. Telemetry field count
re-measured via inspect.signature: still 22.

iomgaa 4f1ab21562 chore: give the package page a body and repo links
1.1.2 went out with an empty description on the registry page: without a
readme field there is no long_description, and twine only warns about
that -- it does not block the upload. Add readme and project.urls, and
record the wider lesson in the release procedure: a release is done when
the pages a downstream user actually opens look right, not when the local
steps go green. Also adds the missing step for creating a Release, which
is why the Releases page sat empty through eight tags.

iomgaa 014fc2bfa7 chore: release 1.1.1
Patch rather than minor: the error surface is unchanged and no public
signature moved. What downstream must notice is timing, not types — the
worst-case call duration rises to roughly max_attempts * timeout_s now
that the retry budget actually applies.

Pre-release review caught an overreaching promise in the changelog entry:
the 429 bound holds only when the stall verdict can fire at all, i.e. when
the whole scope has no progress. The verdict is a conjunction, so a call
does not die while other calls in the scope are still producing — by
design — which leaves no hard per-call ceiling in that case. That property
predates this fix and is now stated with its precondition instead of as an
unconditional guarantee.

The wiki sync in the release checklist is a no-op again: the doc site has
been down since 2026-08-02 and its landing page names CHANGELOG.md as the
version source of truth, which this commit updates.

iomgaa a0a5cf7ecc fix: return 429 attempt time to the stall budget
Independent verification found the first cut had swapped one bug for a
worse one. The budgets were split by "did we send a request", so a 429
attempt counted as productive — but 429 is exempt from the retry budget,
so its time burned neither budget. Against a queueing gateway that holds
the request for the full timeout before answering 429, a call could hang
for 301 attempts / 25.2 hours, measured, versus 301 seconds before the
change.

The split is now by which budget the time consumes: time that burns
max_attempts is excluded from stall, time that does not (429 attempts
included) belongs to stall. Measured again: back to one attempt / 301s.

Only the chat loop needs this — embedding and ocr count 429 against
max_attempts unconditionally, so the gap never existed there. The stall
verdict moved into _stalled(), which both call sites had duplicated, to
keep __call__ under the complexity gate.

iomgaa 3645e574d3 docs: record the stall metering change in architecture and changelog
ARCHITECTURE.md 7.3 now carries the new metering and notes that the G6
ttft guard became conservative redundancy. The changelog entry leads with
what downstream must act on: the worst-case call duration rises to
max_attempts * timeout_s, and any STALL_WINDOW_S that was inflated to work
around this can go back to the default.

iomgaa a57a5cea72 fix: let assembly defects pierce the gate wrappers
Independent verification caught that the split shipped in the previous
commit did not actually hold on the only path production uses. The gate
wrappers re-raise GovernanceBackendError but nothing else, so
SourceNotConfiguredError fell into the following `except Exception` and
came back out as a governance_backend_down failure with retry_after_s=5.0.
A misconfigured source name would still retry forever and never surface.

The existing tests missed it because both of them call the private _cfg()
directly, one layer below the wrapper the governance loops actually go
through. The regression test goes through QuotaGate.

telemetry.py has to widen its terminal catch in the same commit: once the
wrapper stops relabeling the error, it is no longer a GovernanceBackendError,
and it is raised before any attempt exists, so the path would have recorded
no telemetry at all.

Also corrects the leak path count from three to five. QuotaGate.stats and
BreakerGate.retry_after_s are not wrapped by _record_quietly either.

Minor rather than major: adding a parent class widens what an existing
`except` catches, it does not break one. Callers already catching
GovernanceBackendError keep working untouched.

The wiki sync in the release checklist is a no-op this time. The doc site
was taken down entirely on 2026-08-02 for accuracy reasons, and its
remaining landing page points at CHANGELOG.md as the version source of
truth, which this commit updates.

iomgaa 5eb01a0096 chore: release 1.0.6 and keep the live matrix out of the CI gate
The thinking matrix had been running inside make ci all along, which is
not what the design claimed. It takes seven minutes, spends 137 real
calls, and its criteria are statistical, so a network hiccup fails the
build for reasons unrelated to the change under test -- one run died on
three consecutive network errors exhausting the source.

The project already has the mechanism for this: the slow marker, which
addopts excludes by default and the config comments describe as "CI runs
it on demand". Marking the matrix slow brings make ci back down from
seven minutes to ninety seconds while the matrix stays a merge
requirement via -m slow.

The design also claimed e2e does not run in CI. It does: make test runs
pytest over tests/, e2e included, and the existing smoke tests really
call the gateway whenever .env has credentials. Only slow-marked tests
are excluded. Both documents now say so.

Version sources are pyproject and __init__; a test enforces they agree,
and it caught the second one being missed.

iomgaa 4c135075b3 test: verify the thinking switch against the live API (issue #5, #6)
A sixteen-row matrix over 127 real calls: disable and enable on
MiniMax-M3 in both streaming and non-streaming mode, extra_body winning
over the profile slot, qwen and deepseek still disabling correctly, a
drift sentinel that re-derives every registered capability from live
behaviour, and the assembly guard refusing the models that cannot
comply.

Two judgement criteria had to be corrected by the data they were meant
to judge. Output length cannot separate the two regimes at all -- the
disabled runs reach 46 tokens when the model narrates its working in
the visible answer, and the enabled runs drop to 13 when medium effort
barely thinks. reasoning_tokens separates them cleanly in both
directions, which is precisely what issue #6 was collected for. A
second anchor compares prompt_tokens between the two regimes: the
vendor injects a reasoning instruction when thinking is on, so the
input side grows, and comparing the two runs relatively avoids
hardcoding any vendor number.

Provider names are mapped explicitly rather than guessed from the model
string; guessing had silently skipped the qwen row behind a "source
unavailable" reason that was not true.

iomgaa abca723d3d chore: release 1.0.3 with the est_tokens decoupling
Patch level: no field or env key was removed or renamed, no port
signature moved, and the API stays backward compatible -- what changed
is the telemetry data contract, which the changelog spells out for
downstream cost rollups.

iomgaa afd6101c08 test: cover the env-key messages left unguarded by mutation testing
Mutation testing showed the negative structured-retries and expected-dim checks
in the env parsing path could be deleted with every test still passing. Their
value is the env key name in the message, so they need tests that assert it.

Changelog now states the real scope of this release and warns that normalising
scope moves the Redis keys, the one change here that silently relocates runtime
state. Records the breaker threshold derivation as deliberately env-only so it
does not resurface as another round.

iomgaa 726f26d8bd fix: normalise scope and blank strings on the construction path too
The verifier found four more env-only behaviours of the same class the branch
was already fixing. The worst is scope: it goes straight into the Redis keys
(pgw:limit:{scope}, pgw:gate:{scope}), so one process using from_env("LLM")
and another constructing scope="LLM" by hand split the rate limit and breaker
state across two namespaces, each tracking its own quota, with no error.

Blank redis_url and pricing_path now collapse to None as from_env has always
done, so they fall into the required-field checks instead of reaching the redis
client as an unparseable URL. EmbeddingSettings gains the __post_init__ it never
had, moving its batch_size and expected_dim checks off the from_env-only path.

Also adds the cache backend whitelist test that mutation testing showed missing.

iomgaa a65b504a3d fix: consolidate remaining assembly validation into GatewaySettings
Round two of the from_env-only validation problem. Fifteen checks still lived
in the env parsing functions: six enum domains, the redis_url requirement for
redis-backed limiter/breaker/cache, cache namespace and TTL, telemetry path and
DSN, non-negative structured retries and non-blank scope. from_settings and
direct construction bypassed all of them.

The five asserts in client.py that claimed config had already validated
redis_url and the telemetry targets now hold on every path, so they revert to
what CLAUDE.md permits: internal invariant declarations that also narrow the
Optional for type checkers. Their comments now name the method that guarantees
them, since the previous wording is exactly what went stale.

Postgres DSNs built by hand now get the SQLAlchemy +driver suffix stripped the
way from_env has always stripped it, with a warning so the rewrite is not
silent. The env path strips earlier, so it stays quiet.

iomgaa b693d442f5 docs: record approval, verification evidence and a follow-up gap
Corrects the changelog claim that the old guard messages only named env keys:
they named fields too, it was the remediation advice that pointed at env keys.

Records the human approval of the design, the mutation-testing evidence from
the independent verifier, and the same-class gap it found: 14 checks (redis_url
presence, telemetry paths, enum validity) still live only in from_env, while
client.py asserts they were already validated. Deliberately out of scope here.

iomgaa 8b8f396486 chore: bump version to 1.0.1 with changelog
Patch release for the settings invariant fix. The changelog carries a separate
'behaviour tightening' section because a patch number gives downstreams no
warning that construction can now raise where it previously did not.
